Born in Italy, Gaia Servadio has spent most of her life in England.
Her first novel, refused by 12 Italian publishers, was finally printed by Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Editore and became an international best-seller translated into 16 languages.
Her career was varied - from restaurant critic
(Harpers & Queen) to theatre and art critic (La Stampa, Corriere della Sera) to politics (The Times, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph group). She wrote also on international politics, was considered an expert on the Mafia writing three books on the subject, besides making two documentaries for the BBC and being commissioned to write innumerable articles. She was war-correspondent, had exhibitions of her paintings (Rome and Milan) some of which were sent to group exhibition from Australia to France, and has lectured on a variety of subjects all over the world.
Married with three children she divides her time between London and Italy.
